For Mumbaikars planning their Sunday travel, significant disruptions are in place across all three major suburban lines. Central Railway and Western Railway have announced extensive maintenance blocks for Sunday, 28 December 2025.
Central Line: Matunga to Mulund (Fast Line)
Block Timing: 11:05 AM to 3:45 PM

- Routes Affected: Up and Down Fast Lines between Matunga and Mulund.
- Impact: Fast local trains leaving CSMT will be diverted to the Slow Line between Matunga and Mulund. They will halt at all stations on this stretch.
- Delays: Expect trains to arrive at their destinations approximately 15 minutes late. Fast trains beyond Thane will be re-diverted to the fast track at Mulund.
Harbour Line: CSMT to Chunabhatti / Bandra
Block Timing:
- Down Lines (CSMT to Chunabhatti/Bandra): 11:40 AM to 4:40 PM
- Up Lines (Chunabhatti/Bandra to CSMT): 11:10 AM to 4:10 PM
Impact: Services from CSMT to Vashi, Belapur, and Panvel are suspended. Similarly, services towards Bandra and Goregaon from CSMT are suspended.
Alternatives:
- Special trains will run between Panvel and Kurla (Platform No. 8) at a 20-minute frequency.
- Harbour line passengers are permitted to travel via the Main Line and Western Railway from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
Western Railway: Major Disruption at Borivali
The Big Update: A major non-interlocking block is underway at Borivali station for Electronic Interlocking (EI) work.

- Cancellations: Approximately 235 suburban trains are cancelled today.
- Platform Closure: Platforms 8 and 9 at Borivali remain suspended.
- Diversions: Several UP Mail/Express trains will skip the Borivali halt. Trains originating/terminating at Borivali/Andheri may be short-terminated at Goregaon.
Passenger Advisory: Given the scale of the Western Railway cancellations and the Harbour line suspension, commuters are advised to check live train status apps before heading to the station and plan for extra travel time.
