On September 16, 2024, India rolled out its very first fully air-conditioned unreserved train, the Namo Bharat Rapid Railway. You might have heard it called the Vande Metro before, but it’s got a shiny new name now. This train is all about connecting cities that aren’t too far apart, providing a comfy and speedy ride. Basically, it’s an AC upgrade to the MEMU trains, and the name change ties it in with the cool Namo Bharat trains on the RRTS network.
The first Namo Bharat Rapid Rail route is up and running between Bhuj and Ahmedabad, and it’ll be zooming along six days a week. That makes it the fastest way to travel between these two cities! The journey covers a decent 358 kilometers, and the fare is a surprisingly affordable ₹430, especially when you consider you’re getting AC for that price.
I’m curious to hear your thoughts on this new train. Do you think it’s a step in the right direction for Indian railways? Are you planning to take a ride on it soon? Let me know in the comments![Enquiry Site]
Until next time, keep those railfanning spirits high! 🚄
