A viral video from the snow-choked roads of Shimla (en route to Spiti) has answered this question once and for all. While Winter Spiti is the ultimate test of a machine, it also seems to be the ultimate destroyer of egos.
Surat & Haryana vs. The Snow
Watch: Lord Jimny (BRH Expeditions) rescuing the “Beasts”.
At the 20-second mark, the situation is clear. We see a GJ05 (Surat, Gujarat) registered Mahindra Thar and a Red Thar from Haryana struggling helplessly in the dense snow. Despite the heavy modification and the “bhokal” (swag), the beasts are not moving an inch.
Enter Lord Jimny. A lightweight Maruti Suzuki Jimny (branded BRH Expeditions) enters the frame. It doesn’t roar; it just grips. With a tow strap attached, the “Toy” proceeds to drag the “Beast” out of its frozen grave.
“Toh Kya Fayda?” (Then What’s the Use?)
Seeing a massive SUV being towed by a compact off-roader brings back the haunting question we asked in our previous blog: “Toh Kya Fayda?”
