If you have driven past the Bandra Reclamation recently, you’ve likely seen the massive pillars rising from the Arabian Sea. That is the skeleton of Mumbai’s next engineering marvel: the Swatantrya Veer Savarkar Bandra-Versova Sea Link (VBSL).
A new viral update has confirmed that the mega-project has crossed a significant milestone, reaching 42% completion.
Must Watch: Why This Is Trending
10 Minutes to Versova: The Dream Run
Once fully operational, the 17-kilometer bridge promises to cut the travel time between Bandra and Versova to just 10 minutes—a journey that currently takes 45-60 minutes in peak traffic.
The project isn’t just a standalone bridge; it is the critical connector in Mumbai’s coastal necklace:
- South End: Connects to the existing Bandra-Worli Sea Link.
- North End: Seamlessly integrates with the upcoming Versova-Dahisar Coastal Road (North Phase).
Good News for Bandra & Carter Road
According to MSRDC, the work pace has accelerated significantly. Authorities are expediting the first section—Bandra Reclamation to the Carter Road Interchange. Reports suggest this specific connector might be opened to the public before the entire bridge is ready.

The Timeline: May 2028
While the visuals of the cable-stayed sections and orthotropic steel decks (OSD) are stunning, patience is still required. The full project is expected to be commissioned by May 2028.
